Food Forest Foundation Netherlands

Mission and strategy

The Food Forest Foundation Netherlands was founded in June 2016, by Wouter van Eck, Marc Buiter, Bart Lensink, Fransjan de Waard and Evelyn Derksen.

The development of a large food forest in Almere Oosterwold, as part of the program New Nature of the province of Flevoland, was one of the main drivers for this initiative.

The Food Forest Foundation focuses on the development and realization of profitable food forests in the Netherlands, with the aim to meet the growing demand for tasty and healthy local food, a vital nature, an attractive landscape and much more.

We focus on design and development of new and existing food forests

The foundation also aims to contribute to a meaningful nature experience in food forests, as well as to the development and dissemination of knowledge about edible nature in general, and food forests and permaculture in particular.

Our ambitions are aimed at creating real value in the areas of People, Planet and Prosperity - without passing on problems to other regions or generations. A food forest fullfils several sustainable functions simultaneously and creates sustainable value in several domains.
