Evelyn Derksen
Landscape and food forest designer, teacher
A creative jack-of-all-trades with a passion for nature
Since 2016, Evelyn Derksen has been working on green environments with her company Plantschap. Since then, she has gradually transformed from a landscape designer (2007) into a food forest designer. As a designer, Evelyn feels most at ease when designing small-scale food forests with a great diversity of edible species, with an emphasis on the planting and its significance to the system.
In 2015, Evelyn attended the Food Forests Masterclass, which perfectly aligned well with her vision that people should cooperate with nature, because they are part of nature themselves. Evelyn previously worked as a drawing teacher, exhibition designer and design artist. She can be described as a creative jack-of-all-trades with a passion for nature. Evelyn also wrote for Bomenbieb.nl and works for the Food Forestry Foundation on various food forest projects.
In addition to her work as a designer, Evelyn gives lectures and courses on food forestry and occasionally designs websites. In addition, she is an important contributor to the Food Forestry Foundation's Database of Food Forest Species and has sown the seeds of her own edible garden.
